History under construction. The index is recorded once a day since its launch in October 2026. The chart appears with the second daily value; no earlier value is estimated or backfilled.

Method
Every day at 04:00 UTC, the site collects the Steam Community Market price of each CS2 item from csgotrader.app: the median sale price of the last 7 days, or of a longer window (30 or 90 days) for an item that did not sell that week. The basket is every CS2 weapon case that has such a price on that day. Souvenir packages, sticker capsules and other containers are left out, and so are keys: they are sold at a fixed price by Valve.
The index is the geometric mean of those prices, with the same weight for every case, in US dollars. The geometric mean is the one used for the elementary aggregates of consumer price indices (the Jevons index): a 10% rise of a 30-cent case moves it exactly as much as a 10% rise of a collector case worth a hundred dollars. An arithmetic mean would be driven by the three or four oldest cases alone. Steam sales volumes are not public, so the cases are not weighted by volume.
Each daily value is stored once, the day it is computed, and never revised afterwards. Days before the first recording are not reconstructed. When a new weapon case gets its first market price it joins the basket that day, which can move the index by itself: the number of cases is shown above for that reason. Steam prices include the fee paid by the buyer, and a 7-day median smooths out a single day's spikes.
